FailDisplay v1.0
ppe for PCBoard v15.0+
This program is SHAREWARE. It is totally uncrippled, with no delays or nag screens.
It does not disturb your users with advertisements of our programming abilities.
If you find it of merit, a donation of $5 would be appreciated by Atlantis Software.

Disclaimer: None whatsoever. No one here is silly enough to
believe that we have to worry about a program like
this doing any damage whatsoever to your software,
system or scruples.
If anything weird happens, you got hold of a
modified (probably sabotaged) version.
Description: FailDisplay is a ppe designed to automatically display the number
of times the user's password has failed.
The display is centered, and reads:
Failed Password Attempts: (no.)
(white on black) (yellow on black)
Files included:
file_id.diz bbs description
faild.doc thisfile
faild.ppe the executable
faild.pps the code
Installation: Recommended: add as a line to your USER menu.
1. Create a directory for the FAILD.PPE files.
They may be placed in a common ppl/ppe directory,
since the filenames are all similar.
2. Unzip (or move) all FAILD.PPE files into
the designated directory. All that is needed to
operate is the faild.ppe file itself.
3. Add a line to the displayfile that begins with a !
and incorporates the entire path and name of FAILD.PPE
like this example:
!c:\pcb\ppl\faild.ppe
Note that the ! must begin in column 1, and that this
line, when displayed, will use that entire line of your
display file - nothing else will print on that line.
You may put it on any displayfile you like, of course - see
PCBoard docs for ideas.
TO DISPLAY THE NUMBER OF FAILED PASSWORD ATTEMPTS AS A COMMAND,
USE OUR COMMAND VERSION OF THIS PRODUCT, FAILCOMMAND. THIS VERSION
DOES NOT PAUSE, AND WILL FLIP OFF THE SCREEN IF ACTIVATED AS A
COMMAND.
Modification: None available. The nature of the embedded ppe prevents entering
text on the same line separately from the ppe without use of
ansipositioning, which screws up nonansi users.
However, the ppe is SO simple that ANYONE with a ppl compiler can
revise the pps to change colours, line position and/or words, and
simply recompile his own version. One does NOT have to be a ppl
programmer to alter this ppe.
Distribution: Please distribute this product as is, and do not provide changed
or extra files to the archive. If you purchased this program or paid
(any fees to obtain it) to anyone other than Atlantis Software, we
WILL participate with you in legal action against the thief.
PPS Disclosure: It is now our policy to include the pps with each of our ppls. This
programmer learned to write ppls by studying others' work, copying
some parts and improving upon others. As wonderful as Clark's board
is, and the provision of the language, nothing beats taking a look at
what works. Anyone uninterested in learning to program ppls may
throw the pps away. Anyone who is interested may get a little help.
It is our hope that those who benefit from the extra file may see fit
to donate the shareware fee for our consideration - either way, we're
certainly not going to make any LESS for helping others.
Support: If we can be of help, please contact us via our BBS. You are welcome
to come and peruse - you may find us to be a DIFFERENT kind of BBS.
We will appreciate your comments, suggestions and, most certainly,
notification of any mistakes that we've made.
